I’ve seen five of these with no plates. They must be ramping up delivery, didn’t see any a week ago. They are a big yawn for me, just some Bay Area DOTS reporting here. It’s like a car trying to be an ipad.

The Ipad of cars it is. Granted, the iPad was the biz...for a little while.

I’ve seen quite a few as well (also Bay Area). They look better in person than in pictures, but very anonymous and meh.

I feel that tesla’s will be, in twenty or thirty years, the bane of auto enthusiasts, a bit like the Corvette clubs today. I don’t want to generalize but the tesla meets will be full of pride, judgement of other brands, and showing off prowess that will seem dated by the time these groups form.

But unlike Corvette owners, no one in the Tesla meets will have any 20 or 30-year-old Teslas... They’ll be on their 10th Tesla by that point.

Seen some Model Ss here doing black car duty, or Uber. No Model 3s yet ... less interesting iron here than you’d expect.

just like the ipad, once the newness has worn off, its just another tool for the job...eventually to be replaced by a better tool by someone else.

10th Tesla battery by that point.*
Wont excuse them from being slightly obnoxious.

That engineering firm wasn’t kidding about the fit and finish. The gap on that bumper looks pretty bad relative to the rear quarter panel.

We are 2 people with 3 iPads. One in each size ... it’s ridiculous. On the other hand, going on 2 years with my 6S Plus, and I plan to keep it forever. Also, replacing the fan in my Mac Mini when it comes tomorrow - entering its 6th year (usually get 4 out of ‘em). I just want it to last. i7, and those are said to be good for the long haul. We’ll see.

Battery and drivetrain*.
And no, no it won’t. They’re all smoking some shit. That post the other day on the FP about the insanely shitty safety engineering on the 3 actually brought in Tesla defenders. HOW you defend not having a mechanical door release on the rear doors is beyond me, but Tesla fans find a way*.
*In their own mind.

I also kind of mean it’s a sterile design with no soul, the interior has nothing except a pad in the dash. I just hope vehicles don’t become appliances like these, there is nothing interesting about them, but I think other manufacturers are against that as well. This thing looks like a prop in a near future movie.

I was walking some dogs, if I see another I will try to get some panel gap pics haha

No way to defend it, Tesla will loose its cred as a manufacturer of safe cars.

The really sad part is that the parent/driver won’t die, it will be some innocent kid.

I think it’s exciting. We need more cars with Frunks.
I can see myself buying a 2018 Model 3 some time in 2028 to 2030.

How did the NHSA approve it?
![]() 02/05/2018 at 19:18 |

Because I’m sure we have no actual regulation on how to get out of the car, but we have regulations that state our headlights can’t outshine a fucking lantern.
![]() 02/05/2018 at 19:22 |

Didn’t the NHSA then say most cars have shity lamps?
Man, govt is wierd.

Well I mean with that kind of blurriness and you can still see it, it gotta be pretty bad.

I do think the NHTSA did, but I believe it’s DOT regulations which are holding us back from seeing when we drive.

I’d love to own one as well, but I don’t see that happening any time soon (e.g.: 5+ years).

I’m like two generations behind with my Samsung, it doesn’t like movement at all, my wife complains about it.
